Woonbedrijf is dedicated to ensuring comfortable and uninterrupted living in Brabant. By utilizing SelfGuide, they enhance the software application usage of their colleagues and support their tenants.
Woonbedrijf is committed to ensuring comfortable and uninterrupted living in Eindhoven, Helmond, and the surrounding areas. Every day, 350 colleagues work to provide over 70,000 people with quality housing in livable neighborhoods. As a housing corporation, Woonbedrijf focuses on the digitization of processes to simplify and expedite support for residents.
An increasing number of software applications at Woonbedrijf are cloud-based. Through modern Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technology and streamlined integration lines, various 'best of breed' solutions connect seamlessly. As the Information Management Architect, Leon van der Zanden is responsible for developing frameworks that lead to appropriate and sustainable information provision within Woonbedrijf and its partners. He discusses the challenges involved:
“We are dealing with legacy versions of software and a highly fluctuating workforce, which sometimes makes the ongoing development of information provision difficult. It requires significant attention to knowledge retention and sharing.”
Leon van der Zanden was already aware of the value of instructions before using SelfGuide. However, he was not satisfied with the previous approach. Instructions were pieced together using Paint, Word, and screenshots. Several issues arose with this method: labor intensity, different formats in which instructions were created, and maintenance sensitivity. The conclusion drawn was:
"We often fell behind the facts when using instructions. As an intuitive tool for instructions with intelligent features, SelfGuide met our needs. After a positive introduction, we decided to implement SelfGuide immediately."
All employees benefit from the intuitive and goal-oriented instructions. Instructions are made available for all software applications managed by the Information Management department. At an organizational level, the use of SelfGuide contributes to various objectives: active knowledge sharing, consistent operations, and reduced waste.
“My experience is that we can now create a quality instruction up to 6 times faster compared to the old situation. The quality is evident in terms of uniformity, discoverability, ease of use, and ease of development”
In addition to offering instructions in a decentralized library, it is also possible to compile comprehensive user guides or targeted courses based on multiple instructions. You have the option to add images, files, and chapters.
“For now, we are using instructions and user guides at Woonbedrijf. We will implement the training functionality once our new LMS system is up and running. For us, SelfGuide is the tool to create and share educational materials and knowledge.”
Instruction managers use the recorder and editor to quickly create instructions and optimize them later if needed. Users view instructions step-by-step and at their own pace within the user-friendly viewer.
“Both managers and users have positive experiences. I would definitely recommend the product within my network. We feel that we could get even more out of the product if specific features were developed, which we have suggested. We also feel that we are being heard, which is very pleasant.”
