23 January - Automatically activate version

This article is from before the rebranding to SelfGuide. Text and images can include the old product name ProductivityPerformer or its abbreviation PP.

We regularly release new and improved functionality to add value to SelfGuide. The process of activating the new version has been improved so the product is more intuitive and the activation is less disruptive. Read more about this and other changes below.

Automatically activate new version

After the release of a new version, a notification will be shown to activate the new release and to inform about the changes in the new version. This activation is necessary because the new version has been downloaded in the background and replaces the current version in use. The majority of people are not interested in the details of the changes, they just want to use SelfGuide and are distracted by the notification. With the new release, we automated the activation process.

To be specific, the new version will be automatically activated in the scenario's below:

  • The login window is open
  • SelfGuide is in use by a user or guest

Editors, SelfGuide-Managers and Administrators will always receive the notification. No automatic activation will be performed to prevent data loss and to ensure these individuals are informed about the changes.

Step description removal (upcoming)

With the release deployed in mid-December 2022, the step description has been removed in the Instruction viewer. In the upcoming release (to be deployed early February 2023), the step description will be removed in the Instruction editor. After removing the step description in the Instruction editor, data in step descriptions will not be available anymore.

A notification has been sent to editors last week about step descriptions that are still in use. Please ensure that important information has been migrated from step descriptions to annotations before the upcoming release. To read more about the step description removal, see this KB article.

Bugfixes:

  • An increasing number of annotations in a tenant had a negative impact on the time it took to delete an instruction
