14 November - List view in AWI Library

This article is from before the rebranding to SelfGuide. Text and images can include the old product name ProductivityPerformer or its abbreviation PP.

A good overview is important for an editor when creating and maintaining content in SelfGuide. To improve the overview for editors and also to get additional information about instruction, a list view has been added to the AWI Library. This feature has been in preview for some time to gather feedback and improve where needed. With this release, the feature is made available for all editors. Read more about the list view and other changes below.

List view in AWI Library

The tiles are a good visualization for users to know if an AWI will help without the need to open the AWI. When working with a set of AWIs as an editor, an overview is needed with the ability to customize this overview based on personal needs. The last 3 months, a list view has been added (in preview) and improved (based on feedback) to give editors an optional interface, suitable to serve the needed overview. With this release, the list view will be global available for all editors.

The list view contains the functionality below:

  • Ability to choose between the tile and list view
  • Work with an AWI like open the editor, create a recording, open the properties, etc.
  • See additional information like tags, applications, step count, owner, created date, last modified date and last modified by
  • Configure the visible columns and the column order
  • Update the column width
  • Sort on a specific column, ascending or descending

When an editor updates the view preferences, these preferences are saved. The next time the AWI library is opened, in the same session, in a new session, on the same device but also on a different device, these preferences are used to give the editor the same view.

The instruction below gives more details about the functionality within the list view:

Share User Guide and Course

Identical to an AWI, a User Guide and a Course can be shared using an URL including a specific chapter in a User Guide or a module in a Course. To make it easier to share this kind, the share button has been added.

Improved step title

Removal of the step description, as planned for the week of 12 December, gives space to improve the step title behavior. The behavior is improved in several ways, like:

  • The same as other input boxes, more intuitive and consistent
  • A real placeholder, no need to remove text when adding a title
  • Empty is really empty, no default text
  • A number in front to be in line with the step navigation pane

The new step description behavior can be seen on steps without a step description.
