Without AWIs there would be no SelfGuide....nevertheless with this release AWIs belong to the past. The future is all about Instructions. While 'Application Work Instruction' (AWI) exactly describes the scope and goal of the content we are talking about, the downside is the complexity of the name. The term is long and often needs extra explanation when seen for the first time. By replacing AWI with Instruction, SelfGuide has been made more intuitive for the end-user. Read more about this and other changes below.
An important goal of SelfGuide is to be intuitive for an end-user and editor. An end-user searching for an answer to their problem should not need to lose time trying to understand the product and an editor should be able to explain (and share) content with end-users in just a few words. Renaming AWI (Application Work Instruction) to Instruction makes SelfGuide more intuitive. Instead of an abbreviation, we use a term known by everyone that is easy to understand.
The changes in practice:
As announced in earlier release notes, the step description will be removed to improve SelfGuide. Over the past few months editors have worked on removing the step description in favor of annotations to add context information to steps within an Instruction. With this release, the step description has been removed from the Instruction viewer. For steps still containing a step description, the information in the step description will not be visible to the end-user anymore.
