If an Instruction has been shared using an URL, SelfGuide will directly open in the Instruction viewer. In such scenario's the user might be new to SelfGuide and closing the viewer did show the Instruction library, overwhelming the user with information. With the new Home window, containing the customized welcome message, this is a better place to continue using SelfGuide. Read more about this and other changes below.
It is a common usage an Instruction is opened directly using a shared URL, also if the user (or maybe a guest) is unfamiliar with SelfGuide. Closing the Instruction viewer did open the Instruction library. If unfamiliar with SelfGuide, all those Instructions might be overwhelming which is absolutely not the intention. To enable the user to understand what SelfGuide is and continue using SelfGuide, the Home window is a much better option to shown when closing the Instruction viewer.
We have updated the behavior of the Close button so it will direct the user to the Home window. This behavior is only applicable when directly opening the Instruction viewer. When an Instruction is opened from the Instruction library, a User Guide or a Course, the behavior will be the same and the user will return to the previous window.
The feature to mix Instructions and Exercises in a Course section has been in preview for several weeks. This functionality enables editors to guide users between getting knowledge by reading Instructions and practicing the gained knowledge using Exercises. With this release, the feature has been made general available and will be available for all editors.
The Course preface might contain a video, for example to welcome a user and explain what a user will learn in the Course. If no video has been added, a default image will be shown to improve the Course design.
The SelfGuide Recorder is actually a webpage shown in a browser, with additional functionality so recordings can be made. By default, the English spellchecker was enabled by the framework causing unwanted situations when editing text. For example, spelling corrections where suggested without the option to correct, ignore, etc.
For now we have chosen to disable the default spellchecker.
Note: this change requires an update of the SelfGuide Recorder. The newest version can be found on https://www.selfguide.com/downloads
